Website Marketing Plan

Contact AsioStudio.com for help with your Online Marketing Plan.

If you haven't ever written a marketing plan for your business, do yourself a favor and start now. Yes, they are tedious and boring and guess what? They go hand in hand with business success. Can you imagine the chaos a train might cause if it didn't have a track to travel on? The same is true of your business.

Good websites, like good businesses succeed because they know where they have been, where they are now and where they are going.

If you are one of the umpteen thousand business owners who has avoided the dreaded planning process, fear not. We have developed an online website marketing outline to get you started. Click over to our Website Marketing Outline and start filling in the blanks. As time goes on we will give you more and more online resources to help you along your way.

Don't run screaming when you see the outline. Think of it as necessary homework---sort of like flushing the gutters or cleaning the frig. If you don't do it now, things are going to get pretty stinky later on. No matter how much you hate it, you owe this planning effort to yourself, your employees and to your business.

Isn't it obvious that those who know as much as they can about their customers, competition and overall market do better? And it has never been easier than it is right now. The Web makes the lackluster research process, if not effortless, then at least manageable.

Spend an adequate amount of time planning how to position your products, services, causes, etc. Go to your competitors' websites. There you can learn, in just a few hours, what used to take months and righteous dollar amounts to ferret out.

On a piece of paper write down each company's strong and weak points. Analyze them. If you need to, work with a consultant to figure out how to position your goods in a more favorable light. You might focus on quality, price, immediate delivery, customer service or unique new technology. In the biz we call this your USP (unique selling proposition).

Another place you can scope out your competition's strengths and weaknesses is at Google's News Engine. Sometimes our brethren gets an approving nod from the press for something they have excelled in. Or sometimes.....well, let's just say that the press loves a grimy little story.

Once you have all of the specifics on product or service positioning figured out, it is time to formulate 'the plan'. There are some very good books and websites devoted to the in's and out's of writing both formal and informal marketing plans. Since we don't have the time or space to get into that whole 'enchilada', we recommend you fill out our Website Marketing Outline. That will get you started and it will certainly provide enough information to jump start your web design team.

Remember, vague desires usually don't sell products or services, or create brands. Focused marketing and targeted goals do that. It doesn't matter if you are spending money on Web site creation, advertising campaigns, customer incentives or trade shows; the magic is almost always in the up front planning.
